    John became New Hope’s new Lead Pastor in February of 2015. John was previously a site pastor for a church in Madison, WI where he served for nearly 17 years. Originally interested in becoming a lawyer, he discovered a passion for ministry and went to Dallas Theological Seminary.

    John is married to Corrie, who teaches art in Lake Oswego. They have two daughters, Eden (born 2007) and Jubilee (2010). John is a lover of good books, good coffee, good conversation, and a good hike. He loves playing basketball, hanging with friends and family, and studying theology.

  • Hannah Souter

    Hannah oversees Groups and Spiritual Formation at New Hope. Hannah graduated from George Fox Evangelical Seminary with her MA in Ministry Leadership and has particular interest in community care and spiritual formation. She loves playing outside, making hummus, growing plants, and sharing life with framily.

  • Paul LeFeber

    Paul is a songwriter, worship leader, teacher, and actor. His undergraduate degree is in theatre and music and he is almost done with a masters degree in theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

    Paul moved to Portland from Madison, WI where he lived and worked for over ten years. He loves helping people connect their faith to everyday life and serving artists in connecting their faith and art. His wife Mariah is a dancer and counselor; they have two daughters, Adah and Junia.

  • Michael Stern

    Mike is one of those dreaded California transplants. He moved to Oregon to snowboard, but found Jesus instead. Over the past decade, Mike worked as an associate pastor at a church in Lake Oswego and Church Partnership Director for an organization serving in Rwanda, Africa. Although Mike's role as Executive Pastor of Operations is focused on the nuts and bolts of how the church runs, his desire is to be engaged in pastoral ministry and to see people transformed into the image of Christ. He's married to Stefanie, and together they have 4 kids, Ruby, Tess, Caleb, and Phineas.

    Mike enjoys time with his family, classic novels, woodworking, and long walks on the beach.

  • Nathan Meeker

    Nathan is an Oregon native, having grown up in the Portland area. A graduate of Multnomah University, Nathan is excited to serve New Hope as the Student Pastor not only to help students grow and thrive but also to partner with parents and serve our families.

    Nathan can be found rock climbing or reading, but his favorite thing is playing chess with his neice!

  • LeRoy Lee

    LeRoy has a passion for introducing kids to Jesus through the Bible, community, and fun. With a masters degree in teaching he brings a lot of insight and expertise to helping your child grow. LeRoy is married to Gina and they have 4 kids: Addison, Titus, Eleanor and Willa-Jane. He is active in community theatre as an actor and director.

  • Carolyn Mata

    As New Hope's Women's pastor, Carolyn is passionate about helping women discover how to grow spiritually through discovery of the Bible, gaining insights from other women either in a group setting or one-to-one, and helping everyone find a place to use their gifts. She is married to Ramon, who is a counselor. They enjoy spending time together at their home in Damascus.

  • Jerry Schmidt

    Jerry Schmidt is part of one of New Hope’s founding families, helping to start the church in 1972. He has a passion for helping people experience God’s love and the power of community. He oversees New Hope’s care ministries, Adult Bible Fellowship, senior groups and activities, and Deacon Ministry. When not at New Hope, Jerry enjoys gardening, reading, woodworking, and watching the Blazers (when they’re hot). Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jeanie and their two adult children, their spouses and their two wonderful grandchildren.

  • Emily Greco

    Emily serves as the Director of Welcome and Justice ministries. A graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Theatre Arts, Emily most recently served as an Event Facilitator for Compassion International. Her combined passions for storytelling, relationship building, and responding to the "unseen" in our communities have led Emily to serve here. Married to a tall, lanky husband named David and mama to two pups- Amy Grant and Paul McCartney- in her free time Emily is most likely found caring for her tomato plants or enjoying a cup of tea and a good book.

  • Laura Rodgers

    With a heart for helping others succeed, Laura supports New Hope behind the scenes where she can problem solve, coordinate multiple people and tasks, and help others accomplish the 'big picture'. She is a graduate of Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho where she earned a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Business. Laura loves spending time with friends and family, catching a good movie, hiking, traveling and trying new things!

  • Chelsea Hostetler

    With a degree in Music Studies from Warner Pacific University, Chelsea is passionate about the arts and how they connect with faith. She’s an accomplished vocalist, instrumentalist and choral conductor. She has led worship in a variety of settings and loves helping people go deeper in faith. She’s married to Trevor and lives in Oregon City with their daughter, Marley, and two dogs, Obadiah and Gryffin. When not making music, Chelsea enjoys hand-lettering, Netflix, and good food.

  • Maria Brown

    Maria is excited to share her passion for event planning with New Hope. She loves planning and executing all types of events, especially ones with several moving parts. Maria is originally from the midwest, but moved to the Portland area in 2014. She has her bachelor's degree in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and Event Planning. Prior to joining New Hope, Maria worked as a Catering & Group Sales Manager at a Marriott property in downtown Portland.

    When she isn't planning events for work or her personal life, she enjoys spending time with her family. Her husband Eric is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and together have one sweet and wonderful little girl named June. They also are parents to two goldendoodles, Ruby and Ernie.

  • Debbie Schlosser

    Debbie has been the office manager for New Hope since 2011, and has been an active member of New Hope for over 20 years. She works with all outside rentals for the church (concerts, weddings, funerals, receptions, conferences, etc.) and serves as John Rosensteel's administrative assistant. Debbie has been married for 24 years to her husband, Dick. They have four children, four grandchildren and a very spoiled wirehair terrier named “Buster Brown”.

  • Josh Sharp

    Josh has a Bachelors of Arts in Bible and Theology from Multnomah University, and is currently working on his Masters of Divinity. He has been serving in full-time ministry for over ten years, and is currently the Director of Production for New Hope.

    Josh has been married to his wife Christine for 13 years, and they have three boys: James, Cole, and Eli. He loves spending time with his family, reading comics, enjoying his wife's baking, and all things tech.

  • Steve Sanz

    Steve has been married to his best friend Rose for 40 years and we has two kids; Loren and Carolyn and three grandchildren. He's inspired by God and seeing creativity in action. His first job (and his first business) was as a paperboy and now works as the Facilities Director and New Hope. If Steve could vacation anywhere, he would visit Portugal, Spain, Andorra and Italy.

  • Kellie Arabak

    Kellie helps organize all the behind-the-scenes details that make the Sunday morning services happen. She also performs many vital administrative functions that help keep the whole church running smoothly. She and her pilot-husband, Bill, enjoy travel, breakfasts out, and their two cats.

  • David Precechtil

    David came to New Hope in 2000, not looking for a big church, but he and Barb got involved in a Life Group, and decided to stay and get involved here. He started volunteering in the bookkeeping department early in 2017, and is now New Hope's part-time bookkeeper.

    David retired from the auto parts business after spending 46 years working his way up to an ownership position. Originally passionate about sports car racing, now his passions are around marriage mentoring and encouraging men in sexual purity. Barb and Dave have been married 41 years and have a daughter, Evie. They also have an adopted fur-child named Gidget.

  • Meshell Najjar

    Meshell is New Hope's Early Childhood Director. She grew up in Trout Lake, WA. Meshell met her husband, Samer, in college at Southwestern Baptist College (now Arizona Christian University) where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught grades 1-3 before starting a family and becoming a stay-at-home mom, her childhood dream.

    Meshell and Samer have 5 beautiful children: Shiloh (18), Alex (17), Isaiah (14), Victor (12) and Carl (12). She has always loved working with children and her passion lies in helping them grow and learn in all aspects of their lives. Meshell loves being with her family, reading, gardening and being outdoors (especially in the fall!)

  • Kelsey Samsel

    Kelsey grew up around New Hope and returned a few years ago to work with the Communications Team. She has also performed all over the region with her husband Cary and their band, Samsel. They live in Portland with their dog, Dexter.

  • Christine Sharp

    Christine is the Elementary Area Coordinator for the Kids Community. She has been working with youth and children for over a decade, and has three boys of her own: James (12), Cole (6), and Eli (4). She has been married to her husband Josh for 13 years, and loves spending time with him and her boys. Reading is her favorite hobby, though she also loves baking, computers, tea, and cats.

  • Tabitha Wells

    Tabitha has been on staff as the 3-K Coordinator since September 2018, and before that as an intern (since 2017). She is currently studying Psychology with an emphasis in Family Studies, online at Corban University, and really enjoys her opportunity to work with kids and families at New Hope.

    She lives in the foothills of Mt. Hood with her family (parents + 5 siblings). When not working or studying, Tabitha enjoys being involved in the Portland musical theater community whether onstage or backstage, with her whole family, or vacationing at Disneyland.

  • Barb Siron

    Barb is a remarkable volunteer who updates and maintains New Hope’s database. Barb also volunteers with the Pastoral Care Team, keeping them aware of those who are facing crises or health issues and need pastoral contact. She has been around New Hope for a long time and says that, “to serve the Lord and my church is my greatest joy in living.”
