    John became New Hope’s new Lead Pastor in February of 2015. John was previously a site pastor for a church in Madison, WI where he served for nearly 17 years. Originally interested in becoming a lawyer, he discovered a passion for ministry and went to Dallas Theological Seminary.

    John is married to Corrie, who teaches art in Lake Oswego. They have two daughters, Eden (born 2007) and Jubilee (2010). John is a lover of good books, good coffee, good conversation, and a good hike. He loves playing basketball, hanging with friends and family, and studying theology.

  • Hannah Souter

    Hannah oversees Life Groups and the Welcome Teams at New Hope. Hannah graduated from George Fox Evangelical Seminary with her MA in Ministry Leadership and has particular interest in community care and spiritual formation. She loves playing outside, making hummus, growing plants, and sharing life with framily.

  • Naomi Perry

    Naomi serves as New Hope’s Pastor of Young Adults and Operations. With a wide range of experience in the world of business and ministry, she brings a keen eye for organizational health, and a heart for the Millennial Generation to the team at New Hope. As a native Northwesterner, Naomi is passionate about bringing the gospel to bear on this particular cultural context and historical moment. On any given day you will find her meeting a friend for coffee, reading, exploring Portland, or spending time with her family.

  • Paul LeFeber

    Paul is a songwriter, worship leader, teacher, and actor. His undergraduate degree is in theatre and music and he is almost done with a masters degree in theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

    Paul moved to Portland from Madison, WI where he lived and worked for over ten years. He loves helping people connect their faith to everyday life and serving artists in connecting their faith and art. His wife Mariah is a dancer and counselor; they have two daughters, Adah and Junia.

  • Nathan Meeker

    Nathan is an Oregon native, having grown up in the Portland area. A graduate of Multnomah University, Nathan is excited to serve New Hope as the Student Pastor not only to help students grow and thrive but also to partner with parents and serve our families.

    Nathan can be found rock climbing or reading, but his favorite thing is playing chess with his neice!

  • LeRoy Lee    

    LeRoy has a passion for introducing kids to Jesus through the Bible, community, and fun. With a masters degree in teaching he brings a lot of insight and expertise to helping your child grow. LeRoy is married to Gina and they have 4 kids: Addison, Titus, Eleanor and Willa-Jane. He is active in community theatre as an actor and director.

  • Carolyn Mata

    As New Hope's Women's pastor, Carolyn is passionate about helping women discover how to grow spiritually through discovery of the Bible, gaining insights from other women either in a group setting or one-to-one, and helping everyone find a place to use their gifts. She is married to Ramon, who is a counselor. They enjoy spending time together at their home in Damascus.

  • Jerry Schmidt

    Jerry Schmidt is part of one of New Hope’s founding families, helping to start the church in 1972. He has a passion for helping people experience God’s love and the power of community. He oversees New Hope’s care ministries, Adult Bible Fellowship, senior groups and activities, and Deacon Ministry. When not at New Hope, Jerry enjoys gardening, reading, woodworking, and watching the Blazers (when they’re hot). Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jeanie and their two adult children, their spouses and their two wonderful grandchildren.

  • Emily Greco

    Emily serves as the Director of Communications and Justice Ministries. A graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Theatre Arts, Emily most recently served as an Event Facilitator for Compassion International. Her combined passions for storytelling, relationship building, and responding to the "unseen" in our communities have led Emily to serve here. Married to a tall, lanky husband named David and mama to two pups- Amy Grant and Paul McCartney- in her free time Emily is most likely found caring for her tomato plants or enjoying a cup of tea and a good book.

  • Laura Rodgers

    With a heart for helping others succeed, Laura supports New Hope behind the scenes where she can problem solve, coordinate multiple people and tasks, and help others accomplish the 'big picture'. She is a graduate of Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho where she earned a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Business. Laura loves spending time with friends and family, catching a good movie, hiking, traveling and trying new things!

  • John Bottrell

    John moved from L.A. to Portland in 2016 with his wife Liz. With extensive experience as both a live and studio engineer, he oversees all of New Hope’s technical arts. He has toured the world working for various artists in a variety of roles. He’s also an accomplished musician and songwriter. John helped to found the LA Songwriters Collective. When not creating, he and his wife Liz love exploring the outdoors.

  • Chelsea Hostetler

    Chelsea graduates this year with a music degree from Warner Pacific College. She’s an accomplished vocalist and gifted choral conductor. She has led worship in a variety of settings; she loves helping people go deeper in faith. She’s married to Trevor and lives in Southeast Portland. When not making music, Chelsea enjoys connecting with friends and family.

  • Debbie Schlosser

    Debbie has been the office manager for New Hope since 2011, and has been an active member of New Hope for over 20 years. She works with all outside rentals for the church (concerts, weddings, funerals, receptions, conferences, etc.) and serves as John Rosensteel's administrative assistant. Debbie has been married for 24 years to her husband, Dick. They have four children, four grandchildren and a very spoiled wirehair terrier named “Buster Brown”.

  • Corinne Allen

    Corinne arrived at New Hope in 1989 with her husband Todd, and her sons Andrew and Nathan. She currently serves as Prayer Pastor, passionate about listening to what God says about our identity in Christ. She is certified as a coach through Western Seminary, is a NAMI Family to Family teacher, and holds a B.A. in both English and Psychology from Westmont College. She loves gardening, and always has a good book or two going.

  • Trudy Adams

    Trudy has been a part of New Hope for over 30 years, and on staff for over 10. She keeps things running smoothly within our database and helps with New Hope's Women's ministry. She spends much of her time being the proud mother of two and grandmother of five.

  • Kellie Arabak

    Kellie helps organize all the behind-the-scenes details that make the Sunday morning services happen. She also performs many vital administrative functions that help keep the whole church running smoothly. She and her pilot-husband, Bill, enjoy travel, breakfasts out, and their two cats.

  • David Precechtil

    David came to New Hope in 2000, not looking for a big church, but he and Barb got involved in a Life Group, and decided to stay and get involved here. He started volunteering in the bookkeeping department early in 2017, and is now New Hope's part-time bookkeeper.

    David retired from the auto parts business after spending 46 years working his way up to an ownership position. Originally passionate about sports car racing, now his passions are around marriage mentoring and encouraging men in sexual purity. Barb and Dave have been married 41 years and have a daughter, Evie. They also have an adopted fur-child named Gidget.

  • Meshell Najjar

    Meshell is New Hope's Early Childhood Director. She grew up in Trout Lake, WA. Meshell met her husband, Samer, in college at Southwestern Baptist College (now Arizona Christian University) where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught grades 1-3 before starting a family and becoming a stay-at-home mom, her childhood dream.

    Meshell and Samer have 5 beautiful children: Shiloh (18), Alex (17), Isaiah (14), Victor (12) and Carl (12). She has always loved working with children and her passion lies in helping them grow and learn in all aspects of their lives. Meshell loves being with her family, reading, gardening and being outdoors (especially in the fall!)

  • Kelsey Samsel

    Kelsey grew up around New Hope and returned a few years ago to work with the Communications Team. She has also performed all over the region with her husband Cary and their band, Samsel. They live in Gresham with their dog, Dexter.

  • Barb Siron

    Barb is a remarkable volunteer who updates and maintains New Hope’s database. Barb also volunteers with the Pastoral Care Team, keeping them aware of those who are facing crises or health issues and need pastoral contact. She has been around New Hope for a long time and says that, “to serve the Lord and my church is my greatest joy in living.”
