Advent: Looking to Jesus

Advent: Looking to Jesus

Celebrate the Advent Season

Sunday, November 28 marks the start of the Advent season! We cherish this time of year where the church across the globe anticipates celebrating the birth of Christ. Advent creates space within the hustle and bustle of the holiday season to reflect on the grace and miracle of Jesus’ birth, and connect with what it means for us today.

Experiential Sundays

This season we have some special opportunities to "Look to Jesus" together through what we’re calling “Experiential Sundays”: Each Sunday we will explore a different aspect of Jesus as expressed in the book of Isaiah by singing together, engaging with a teaching, and practicing communion. There will be some different elements too.

Think back to when you were in science class—you had lecture days where you learned through listening and you had lab days where you learned through doing. These Experiential Sundays will be a lot more like a lab than a lecture. You’ll have the opportunity to engage creatively with prayer, art, worship, and celebration. We'll guide you through every step of the way.

Advent Podcast

Join us as we reflect on the miracle and grace of Jesus’ birth and what it means for us today. Each weekday, you'll have access to a short devotional podcast with a focus on scripture and prayer, led by someone from our church. Beginning November 29 you can find our Advent Podcast and transcripts HERE.

Have young ones at home? We'll also have a special storytime podcast created by our Kids Community created for the whole family.

Advent Offering

Justice is one of our core values here at New Hope. We believe the Church has a special role to play in making things right, so we want to respond to the Advent season by caring for the people in our community. One of our goals with this is to give purposefully—raising funds for justice partners and projects that serve vulnerable communities. Each year we are invited to spend less and give more through our Advent Offering.

This year we want to focus on caring for the caregivers - with a goal of raising $24,000 to be distributed among three recipients: Woodmere Elementary,  Parents of local Families in Need, and New Hope Missionaries. Click HERE to give and learn more about this year's recipients.
