Volunteers from New Hope and the neighborhood meet at 8:15am at New Hope for breakfast on the second Saturday of every month. Teams eat breakfast together, get instructions for the day and the work from 9:00am-noon at a care receiver's home. The same team of 3-5 go to the same home every month in order to build relationships with people in our community who need consistent help with projects they can no longer manage on their own.
Jobs often include yard work, minor home repairs, getting things ready for the coming season, and visiting with the home-owner. We serve widows, the elderly, single-parents, and those with disabilities in SE Portland. We currently serve 14 care receivers and have 69 volunteers.
